Morony Dam Gate Replacement

Morony Dam is a high-hazard hydroelectric gravity dam near Great Falls, Montana, measuring 883 feet long and 94 feet high with a 390-foot-wide spillway.

The project involved replacing the existing Tainter gates with nine new vertical lift spillway gates, along with a new 40-ton hoist system, heated guide slots, seals, gate heating features, and construction stoplogs for dewatering during installation. Project management also included oversight of waterside operations, marine work planning, equipment selection, and procurement of barges, boats, and other marine equipment while maintaining dam operations throughout construction.
