Cathodic Protection

Corrosion Control for Fueling Infrastructure, Pipelines & Tank Systems

K Corp Reliance Company (KRC) delivers certified Cathodic Protection (CP) surveys to safeguard buried fuel infrastructure from corrosion. We inspect and maintain CP systems for pipelines, tank bottoms, and fueling terminals—ensuring long-term performance and full regulatory compliance.

With AMPP-certified technicians and field-proven methodology, we help operators prevent system failure, extend asset life, and meet reporting obligations.

Fuel Infrastructure We Protect

Our CP services focus on critical systems vulnerable to corrosion, including:

  • Underground fuel pipelines

  • Buried API 650 tank bottoms

  • Transfer facilities and distribution terminals

  • Impressed current and galvanic CP installations

We provide routine inspections and one-time assessments for troubleshooting or compliance.

Cathodic Inspection Methodology

Every CP survey includes standardized testing and detailed documentation. Common tasks include structure-to-soil potential measurements using On and Instant Off methods, inspection and adjustment of rectifiers, and isolation flange testing. For sacrificial anode systems, we evaluate galvanic performance and site-specific corrosion risk.

When needed, we incorporate corrosion coupon analysis, review historical data trends, and prepare all necessary documentation for internal teams or regulatory submission.

Why Cathodic Protection Matters

Especially in cold, moisture-heavy environments, buried metallic infrastructure is highly susceptible to corrosion. Left unchecked, this can lead to hazardous leaks, costly repairs, and major environmental risks.

Cathodic protection surveys prevent these failures before they start. By validating CP system effectiveness and identifying deficiencies early, we help clients reduce risk, avoid compliance issues, and ensure safe operation for years to come.

Case Highlight: Petro 49 Statewide Program

KRC was selected by Petro 49, Inc. to conduct annual CP inspections at fuel facilities across Alaska. Locations included Cordova, Ketchikan, Petersburg, Wrangell, Homer, Kodiak, Skagway, Seward, and Juneau (Auke Bay).

Each site featured a different configuration — ranging from galvanic systems in remote communities to impressed current installations at larger terminals. KRC’s flexible methodology and regulatory familiarity ensured consistent performance and thorough documentation at every site.

Experienced, Certified, and Ready to Mobilize

KRC brings deep experience in corrosion prevention, field inspection, and compliance documentation. Whether you operate a single fueling site or manage a large facility, our team delivers clear results, certified reporting, and consistent support wherever you are.
